London is the capital and most populous city in England and the United Kingdom. The city boasts of hosting world-class universities, being the top global financial centre, being home to the world’s largest city airport and hosting the highest number of ultra-high net worth individuals globally. As a result, it is ranked as one of the world’s top travel destinations.

 

London Attractions

 

London is one of the world’s largest tourism destinations and is home to numerous tourist attractions such as The London Eye, The Big Ben, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, the British Museum and even the neighbouring River Thames. In addition, the city has a rich and extensive history that dates several centuries back, clearly evident from museums, ad art galleries, parks, palaces and churches in the area.

 

The British Museum

 

The British Museum is a public institution devoted towards human history, art and culture. The museum has an incredible collection consisting of over eight million items collected from all over the world at different points in time. In addition, the building itself is a masterpiece and has beautiful décor.  Entry to the museum is free for all visitors.

 

Buckingham Palace

 

The Buckingham Palace, located in the city of Westminster is the official residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch. Visitors to this palace are encouraged to take the Buckingham Palace tour. During the tour, visitors are guided through the nineteen state rooms where official meetings, receptions, and Banquets hosted by the queen are held. The state rooms are beautifully furnished using the Royal Collection giving the rooms and elegant and royal feel.

 

The Buckingham Palace Garden is yet another remarkable site that is definitely worth the visit. The stunning garden consists of over 350 species of wild flowers. Visitors are free to take a stroll in this garden to cap off the tour.

 

While at The Buckingham Palace, visitors also watch the changing of the guard, a spectacular ceremony that leaves visitors in awe at the meticulous way in which the guards are relieved of their duties.

 

The Tower of London

 

The Tower of London, officially Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London is a historic castle located on the northern bank of the River Thames in Central London. A family trip to London is not deemed complete without a visit to The Tower of London. Both parents and children are free to visit this monumental building to view the exhibitions on display and for educational purposes. In addition, families can walk along the designated trails.

 

From castles and monuments to theatres and art galleries to shopping centres and malls, the city of London clearly offers something for everyone. If you are planning a trip, then London must be at the top of your list.
